It’s a simple and effective way to encourage discussion on your LearnDash course website without getting into the technicalities of several plugins. Here’s how you can enable it:

1 – Enable the default commenting system of your WordPress

Note: By doing this, the commenting will be enabled for every post of your LearnDash website, if you want to enable commenting on a specific course or lesson, you can skip it and enable the comments from that particular course/lesson settings.

To enable it globally, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Discussion.  
  • In the Default post settings area, tick the box for “Allow people to submit comments on new posts.”  
  • Then, click Save Changes at the bottom.

When you enable it, You’ll notice it mentions, “These settings may be overridden for individual posts.” This means you can enable or disable comments for specific lessons, topics, or quizzes. Be sure to check the settings for your individual content as well to confirm that comments are enabled.

Here are the steps to enable comments for each LearnDash content type, along with instructions for individual lessons, topics, quizzes, assignments, and essays:

2 –  For Each LearnDash Content Type

You need to enable comments through the LearnDash settings for each content type:

  1. Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Courses.
  2. Next to “All Courses,” click Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Editor Supported Settings section.
  4. Enable Comments.
  5. Click the Save button at the top.

Note: You need to repeat these steps for each LearnDash content type where you want to enable comments.

3 – Individual Lessons, Topics, Quizzes, Assignments, Essays

After enabling comments for the content types, you must ensure that comments are enabled for each individual piece of content. Here’s how to do it for lessons, but the process is similar for all content types:

For Individual Lessons

  1. Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Lessons.
  2. Hover over the lesson you want to enable comments for.
  3. Click Quick Edit.
  4. Make sure the Allow Comments box is checked.
  5. Click the Update button.

Bulk Edit LearnDash Lessons to Enable Comments

  1. On the LearnDash LMS > Lessons screen, tick the checkbox at the very top of the lesson list (within the header).
  2. In the Bulk Actions dropdown, choose Edit.
